Corneliu Montano is not only charming and witty, but also serious and reflective. His personality reflects his love of music, shared, rather than torn, between pop and opera. Motivated and determined, Corneliu invests his passion in every project he undertakes.

Born in Bucharest, Romania, he has studied in Canada, the United States and in Europe. Corneliu studied most notably with Richard di Renzi who continues to guide him today. In addition, he has studied with the renowned soprano Virginia Zeani, has been enrolled at the prestigious Purchase Conservatory in New York, at the Conservatorio di Mantova in Italy and at the Academy of Music in Bucharest. The young tenor has sung roles from Gounod, Menotti and Verdi with the Purchase Conservatory and had the honor of appearing in a televised concert at the Romanian Embassy in New York City.

Corneliu Montano reached the NYC final auditions for Star Search and American Idol, but it was Star Academie 2004 that singled him out of 6700 young singers and gave him his chance to shine. Throughout the season, he performed with such international artists as Lara Fabian, Samantha Fox and the Gypsy Kings. In the summer of 2004, he toured with other members of Star Academie, performing in the largest venues in Quebec and Ontario to the ovation and praise from fans of all ages.

Among his many other projects, Corneliu has gone on to perform with Nathalie Choquette as well as in the popular Festival d'Ete de Quebec sharing the stage with Helmut Lotti, Gino Quilico and the Quebec Symphony Orchestra in front of more than 120,000 people.

In November 2004, Mr. Montano launched his first solo recording, an eponymous album that reflects not only his eclectic taste, but also his versatility and ease in performing in both the pop and classical genre.

During the summer of 2005, he appeared as special guest artist in the Canadian shows of Richard Clayderman's international tour, performing in Montreal, Toronto and Quebec.

In May, 2006, Corneliu made his Carnegie Hall debut in a televised concert under the auspices of PBD Association. Subsequently, he began collaborating with John Kiehl, producer and founder of Soundtrack Studios in New York and Boston.

Recently, Corneliu interpreted the famous French-Basque tenor, Luis Mariano in "Luis Mariano - Le Choeur Qui Chante" under the direction of Quebec's acclaimed director, Mouffe. In 2007 - 2008, he has given over 80 performances to more then 50,000 people.

Additionally, he recorded and released the album "Corneliu Montano Interprete Luis Mariano" released by GSI Musique and co-produced with French Canadian arranger Stephane Aubin.

Currently, Corneliu is preparing his next album, while on tour performing in Quebec through 2010.
